Workers recover body of trapped Idaho miner- Idaho Statesman Sydney Gill
The body of Larry Marek, a miner, was found Sunday afternoon at Helca Mining Co, the largest silver producer in the nation. Marek was trapped after the tunnel collapse that took place nine days ago. He was trapped more than a mile underground and was said to not have survived on Sunday. The mine collapsed when Marek and his brother were finished “watering down blasted-out rock and ore.” The ceiling collapsed, but Marek’s brother, Mike, was able to escape. There were two recuse efforts when trying to save the life of Marek. Rescuers first tried to dig through the collapsed tunnel. This was stopped because of the dangerous conditions were present because of the drilling. Next, they tried to build another tunnel that would intersect the tunnel where Marek was. This tunnel had the ability to also collapse because of the difficult conditions. Drill holes finally made it into the tunnel where Marek was expected to be. They did not find Marek, just rubble and stone. This meant that the entire tunnel collapsed and gave them a good idea that Marek did not survive the collapse. A cause for the collapse is still unknown, but the President of Helca, Phil Baker, said that an investigation will take place to find out how the collapse happened and how they can prevent it from happening to other miners. Marek’s family has asked for privacy and has not spoken with reporters since the cave-in took place. The last fatality that took place at this mine occurred in 1986.
Sam Alderman Source: msn.com The investigation is still ongoing for a Southwest Airlines plane and how a 5-foot hole in the roof of a jet cracked open in mid-flight. Preliminary findings suggest there may have been flaws in the riveting work when Boeing built the plane 15 years ago. The aluminum panels that ripped off the ceiling were not welded together correctly, either. The Southwest Flight 812 was about 34,000 feet over Arizona with 117 passengers on board on April 1 when a 5-foot-long hole ripped opened along a row of rivets in the roof. The pilot guided the plane to a safe emergency landing. No injuries occurred and immediately after, people began investigating the cause of the crash.
A suspect has been arrested in the robbery that happened at 2 AM Friday at the Jacksons Food Store in Wilder. According to police, a man came into the store armed with a handgun and ordered a female customer to lie on the floor before forcing the store clerk to remove cash from the register and into a plastic bag. The suspect left the store with the money and was last seen on foot northbound on Highway 95. After reviewing security footage and getting a suspect description from the two victims, Wilder police were able to identify Wilder resident Omar D. Castro as a person of interest. Castro is currently on felony probation for a 2006 armed robbery at a Caldwell McDonald’s. Probation agents and Wilder police detectives were unable to locate Castro at either of his two known residences, but were able to locate a substantial amount of evidence, including a metal toy gun they believe was used during the robbery. Castro was confronted in front of his residence when he arrived home and was taken into custody. He was taken into the Canyon County Jail and faces charges of aggravated assault with intent to commit a serious felony and armed robbery.
I chose this article for one reason: I work at the Jacksons store that Castro robbed. I was completely in shock when I heard the news. That store hasn’t seen a robbery in 30 years. I am disgusted too because Castro was a regular customer of ours. In fact, his dad worked at our store for about six months to a year. And it has the entire town upset. The small community of Wilder only has a population of about 1,500. After working at this particular store for four years, you get to know people as they walk into the store. And the fact that one of their own community members committed the crime has the town confused as to why he did it. I feel safe knowing that he is off the streets and in police custody.
“Meridian man charged in his mother's death is still working to avoid death penalty” Source: idahostatesman.com By: Whitney Holm Michael James Lee was accused of going on a violent crime spree. In February of 2011 Lee was arrested for numerous crimes. His crimes started by raping his wife. He then put her into his trunk. He drove to his mother’s house. While he was there he had dinner with his mother and her roommate. The wife was still in the trunk of the car. After dinner, Lee had an altercation with his mother. He stabbed her repeatedly. Lee is pleading not guilty to first degree murder, second degree kidnapping, rape, aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon. Lee could face the death penalty for his crimes. People are still unsure what set him off in the beginning. In order for the death penalty to be served in this case, the jury must unanimously agree on Lee’s disconcert for a life. I wish I could be on jury duty in this case. I remember the day it happened. It is very interesting to have such a horrific case like this in the treasury valley. These cases do not occur very much around here. I think that Michael James Lee went insane and was desperate to do whatever he could to have a new life. He hurt those around him and killed one of them. I definitely think that the death penalty should be used in this case. He is a dangerous human being and should not be around anyone. We should not pay to keep a person like this alive in prison.
Breakfast is back: Treasure Valley eateries are serving up bacon and fruit, Bennies and pancakes
This article addresses the fact that breakfast is regaining its popularity. The most important meal of the day went under wraps for awhile when everyone started to get severely health conscious, but now restaurants are getting busier and busier in the mornings. Not to mention, in this economy which is still in a recession, breakfast is much cheaper than dinner which is another reason this meal has come back into the game.
This article is very well done and extremely informative. It addresses some of the most popular breakfast locations all around the Treasure Valley and gives each ones location and hours as well as a little tidbit about their restaurant.
Also in the article, it’s stated that employees at these locations need to be quick on their feet and able to multitask, as well as have great customer service. The reason so many of these places have regular customers they see weekly if not daily, is not just because of the great food; it’s because of the customer service and the relationships they’ve built.
The employees as these restaurants also understand that their customers are hungry and want their food quick. While dinner guests are usually content with chatting away and having a couple drinks before meals, people in the morning want their food right away.
This article was written very well and I give the author props for doing so. They made me hungry just talking about all this breakfast food!
Katie Flores Tu/Th Schools distort numbers to meet Title IX; Boise State uses 'roster management'
Tuesday the New York Times posted a piece that examines how colleges and universities are using a host of tricks to inflate the number of women athletes on campus and thus comply with Title IX. Title IX is the landmark federal legislation designed to create equal educational opportunities for men and women. The New York Times is reporting many Division I schools are distorting their athletic participation numbers so they can remain compliant with Title IX. The newspaper analyzed public records from than 20 colleges and universities and federal participation statistics from all 345 institutions at the NCAA's highest level. It found some schools were padding the rosters of women's teams with unqualified players, or counting athletes who no longer wanted to compete. The report also found that some schools were counting male players toward the female player totals. According to Boise State Roster management is important for Boise to keep in compliance with Title IX. What Bleymaier means by "roster management" is promoting more opportunities for walk-ons. According to Gene Bleyhmair fifty-four percent of Boise state’s population is female. Boise State has added four women's sports in the last 20 years — golf, soccer, swimming and diving and softball. The Broncos sponsor 11 women's sports and eight men's sports.
Nichole Stallings “New parking proposal moves freshman to Lincoln Garage” by Stephanie Casanova The Arbiter
As many students know, the General Parking areas at Boise State have been cut this semester due to safety hazards around construction zones. Because the parking spots are fist come, first serve, the Parking and Transportation Services Department sells many more permits than the parking spots allow. Due to the decrease of sparking spots, an increase of students, Boise State has formed a proposal as to how we can accommodate so many students—new and old. This proposal is meant to help the hassle of freshman students who have to move their cars for athletic events and will also increase parking for all students. The new parking structure however poses some safety hazards. The main concern regarding safety is that the lighting inside the Lincoln garage is horrible. There isn’t enough natural light in the garage that allows students to drive safely. There hasn’t been any information released about whether prices for general permits will increase. Though, it can be expected considering tuition has increased a long with the fact that this proposal for new parking is not going to be supported by Boise State athletics.
I really liked how informative this article was. It was in a sort of summary outline form that allowed for an easy read through but loaded with information. I personally feel that there needs to be a lot more General parking considering the amount of students who commute to and from other cities in the area. Especially since construction has blocked off 1/3 off general parking right now, I feel as though my parking permit was a waste of money because there isn’t enough available parking. By adding general parking to the Lincoln garage, this will help a lot of students, not just freshman.
Teenage girl survives plunge from Golden Gate Bridge -CNN Staff

The good news is that the girl survived the accident, the bad news is that authorizes don’t know if she will survive. The 16-year-old girl thought it would be a good idea to jump off of one of the biggest bridges in the world. For some reason she was by herself at the time and thought she jump of the bridge into the water. When jumping form heights like that hitting the water at that speeds is like hitting cement. The girl is very lucky to be alive at the moment and she should count her blessings. The girl fell about 220 feet to the water below and when the rescuers pulled her form the water she was conscious and taken to a local hospital where she should survive. This incident was the second time in two months that a person has jumped of the San Francisco Bridge and survived to talk about it. Since the Gate opened in the 19302 more than 1, 300 people have been killed for numerous incidents and 31 of them have been suicides. This just shows how stupid people really are.
Aaron Nelson NBA.com Week 15 post NBA playoffs where, amazing happens. The NBA playoffs have been so unpredictable thus far. As it stands right now the Boston Celtics are the only team in second round of the playoffs. The Lakers and tied 2-2 in there series and the Spurs and down 3-1. The Lakers are playing for their 3rd straight title and 17th overall title. With all the story lines of the Heats big 3 or Boston’s final run a true champion will be crowned.
Facebook is piloting a deals program in five major U.S. cities today. The model for the program is similar to sites like Groupon and Living Social, where subscribers can purchase selected goods and services for 50 percent off or more. All of the current deal sites rely on networking; they offer deeper discounts to people who can get their friends to buy the offer and the offer is only good if so many people buy it. So it would seem this is a niche that would work well for Facebook. Unlike the existing discount sites, Facebook will only offer deals that you can take advantage of with friends. So they won’t be offering half price bikini waxes but they will have a lot of restaurant deals and event tickets available. If the program is a success and the Facebook deals reach Boise I will have a dilemma: I LOVE coupons and I use Facebook often. I don’t know if I am a fan of combining the two. I subscribe to both Groupon and Living Social; I get e-mails from both sites EVERY DAY. I ignore the ones I have no interest in and move on, usually to my Facebook page to see how my friends are. I get annoyed with (and usually unfriend) my friends that are constantly sending me hugs, or answering questions about me, or telling me how their farm is doing, or poking me. Now those same people are going to be bothering me to buy a Cheesecake Factory coupon. I think I would rather keep my couponing life and my (cyber) social life separate.

Ten years ago Thursday, businessman Dennis Tito became the first private person to pay to fly into space. He spent $20 million for a spot on the Soyuz, a Russian rocket making a trip to the International Space Station. Space travel is now beginning to look like the airline industry, with travel agents, carriers and hubs. Richard Branson who founded Virgin Galactic, is an aviation enthusiast who is partnering with other companies to build spacecraft and sell tickets for suborbital flights that will allow passengers to see the Earth's curvature and experience weightlessness. Branson has made his mark on flight, from starting the Virgin Atlantic airline to being the first to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a hot-air balloon. But he's long set his sights higher. "I've dreamed of going into space ever since the moon landing when I was a teenager," says Branson. "I assumed that once man had gone to the moon that ordinary people like me would have had that opportunity years ago." When that didn't happen, Branson took matters into his own hands and registered the name Virgin Galactic in 1991 As the shuttle program comes to an end, private companies are looking to fill a new niche. Fifty years after the first human went into space, private companies would take over the task of building and providing transportation for NASA astronauts and others into low Earth orbit, freeing the government to focus its resources on the deeper reaches of space. Last week, NASA awarded $270 million to four companies, including Boeing and Blue Origin, an aerospace research and development company started by Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, to continue developing or creating designs for vehicles that could take over where the space shuttle leaves off, carrying NASA astronauts into near space.
Police: Citizen tip lead to meth bust at Boise Bench home Regan S Tu/Th This Article was about a man and woman who got busted for possession of methamphetamines with the intent to deliver. The couple had around 25 grams of the drugs that was all individually bagged. The couple lived up off of Morris Hill, right by an elementary school. It is scary to think about the things that are going on behind closed doors so close to where your children go to school. A crazy meth head will do anything when they’re high, and having them that close to young children would make me very nervous if I was a parent. On the Idaho Statesman website, they had the mug shot of the woman, and she was smiling in her picture! She just got arrested for possession of methamphetamines with the intent to deliver, and she is smiling. That charge is punishable up to life in prison. Granted, most people do not receive that punishment, but it is a possibility and she is smiling. I guess that is what meth does to you; makes you lose all perception of reality and the ability to care about anything, including yourself and your future.
Computer Hackers intrinsically linked to financial firms. What we have learned.
4chan is probably the cultural leader of the Internet. Zero Hedge is easily one of the most influential financial blogs. What they have in common is an adherence to the ideology of anonymity on the internet. Anonymity frees individuals from the burden of the ego, which is afraid of judgment, wants recognition, and acts defensively towards disagreements from others. In a collaborative environment, it blocks creativity and distorts incentives. When the ego is removed, unfiltered and raw truth comes out. There are costs to anonymity, however, because it also removes accountability. In many real life situations (like commerce), anonymity is a bad idea. Even online, the rawness of anonymity in places like 4chan offends many people. However, in the realm of thoughts and information, the truth matters more than any other considerations. In this regard, anonymity works beautifully. Anonymity is the main reason the 4chan community consistently churns out creative, original, and trendsetting materials. It's also why 4chan has such a loyal following. Indeed, aside from content creation considerations, anonymity offers other advantages. Ironically, it gives individuals the feeling of belonging – even though they don’t develop one-on-one relationships with each other – because it gets rid of the ego. Once the ego is gone, anonymous individuals identify with an amorphous entity that transcends individuality. It’s not that online anonymity leads to groupthink; it actually encourages creativity and non-conformity. Instead, anonymity brings individuals closer through cutting the personal prejudices and allegiances that divide them apart in real life.
"Dead Week" buries students alive Christine Ritchie - The Arbiter
When I was a freshman, the idea of dead week spelled party everyday. Minimal studying on account of no assignments, quizzes or tests, no learning new material...I was already smart and retained the material, so this week was going to be one huge ball of fun.
Until reality hit, and I ended up with multiple assignments, papers, quizzes, tests and boatloads of new material. What the heck was this?! The policy says no quizzes, exams or new information.
I completely agree with Ritchie; by piling all of this on, it's doing nothing to calm us down before the storm of finals the following week. Instead of teaching us new material that our brains will probably not retain in that short amount of time, perhaps review sessions or reading times should take the time of class periods. Most students are too shy or lazy to utilize out of class study groups, but perhaps using an inclass study group during dead week would work.
I don't even think we can consider our dead week a legitimate dead week. It definitely violates the policy, and does no real good for students. I agreed with Ritchie's opinion piece, and hope that Boise State either changes their dead week policy to a fend for yourself type of deal, or requires their professors to abide by the policy.
A series of tornadoes and thunderstorms across southern states has made this year’s storms the deadliest in almost four decades. The number of people killed in the southern United States has risen to 292, at least, with 194 reported deaths in Alabama reported Wednesday April 27. Alabama is so far the most affected of the eight southern states experiencing devastating weather. On Wednesday, 150 tornados were reported to have made their way through Mississippi and Alabama, destroying many buildings and making several city operations dysfunctional. Mike Honeysutt, a grocery store manager in Tuscaloosa said a tornado, within 20 seconds, shook the building, lifted part of the ceiling and blew products off the shelves. But the damage lasted much longer than 20 minutes, leaving people missing under the debris. With a predicted 500,000 to a million people without power, and 131 confirmed fatalities (which was expected to grow throughout the day), President Obama has declared a state of emergency in Alabama. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is now assisting the state. Though tornados and thunderstorms aren’t out of the ordinary for southern states in the springtime, the dozens of fatalities recorded in Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and Arkansas along with Alabama’s current situation make this spring’s weather in the south the deadliest in the past 4 decades.
Being from Tucson, Ariz., I’m pretty much scared of any natural disaster. To think that a torment of wind can pass through a store in 20 seconds and do that much damage is appalling.
msnbc.com: "A couple of (short) kisses seal the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton" By NBC, msnbc.com and news services
After all the bad news that has been posted about this week it is time to add some actual good news...especially for those who love the English Royal family or are just romantics at heart. At 4am eastern time (about 2am Mountain Time) Prince William, third in line to the British Royal Throne, married his long time girlfriend, Kate Middleton.
Reminicent to the clips of his father and mother's wedding thirty years before, William and Kate's wedding was a worldwide affair. There were some differences including the fact that it lookes like the young royal couple is deeply in love and doesn't show any of the signs that there might be any immediate worries for divorce. Personally I hope ther they will never get divorce they make such a lovely couple. The only other wish I have is that Princess Diana could have lived to see this day, but that was not ment to be.
One day in the future, William and Kate with be King and Queen of England but for now let's just let them be the newlyweds that they are...and I hope that no one starts a "baby watch" let things just happen in their own time with us being surprised when it does. For right now let's soak up this happy feeling around the world. And to those that think that the royal family of England should be abolished...forget it! England without a monarchy wouldn't be England...it would sound more like the United States and I'm sure that you wouldn't like that.
Congradulations William and Kate, I'm sure Diana is watching you from Heaven.

Joe Ross Philly.com Sixers head off into the offseason with high expectations
The 2010-2011 season for the Philadelphia 76ers was an encouraging one for fans, players, and the organization. A year ago at this time was a very troubling time for the organization but getting a lottery pick helped the Sixers obtain momentum for this season. The team was directed by first year head coach Doug Collins. The team had a new offensive philosophy and an emphasis on defense. Key players stepped up this season such as Elton Brand, Andre Iguodala, and Lou Williams. The offense was surged by 2nd year pointguard Jrue Holiday. The Sixers had the luxury of having two solid pointguards. The playoffs and this season have all come to a close to the hands of the Miami Heat. Next year's season has fans excited about how the Sixers can raise the bar to the next level.
Boise man arrested for fleeing police after driving car through shrubbery Thursday night
Idaho Statesman, 4/29/11
Boise police say 35-year-old Ndashoborwa Mezake is being held in the Ada County Jail for fleeing and attempting to elude a peace officer after he took off to avoid being arrested during a traffic stop Thursday night. A police officer made his first attempt to pull over the vehicle, for making an illegal turn, at 11:30 pm on Thursday in the 1100 block of South Capitol Boulevard. Another attempt to pull over the vehicle in a nearby parking lot resulted in Mezake driving onto a sidewalk, over a wooden retaining wall, and through shrubbery; the vehicle came to a stop when it got stuck on a large decorative rock. Officers explained that Mezake tried to free the car from its position on the rock by shifting gears and gunning the engine, however, he was unsuccessful and eventually surrendered to police. Police found that Mezake may have been drinking alcohol earlier in the day but he passed a field sobriety text and was not charged with driving under the influence. Mezake will make his court appearance late this afternoon (Friday, April 29, 2011). The crime of fleeing or attemping to elude a peace officer is punishable by losing all driving privileges for up to three years; the minimum ban for driving privileges is one year.
LONDON — Prince William and Catherine Middleton seal their marriage with a kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace Friday as millions in London and around the world roared their approval. This is a royal wedding tradition. Followed by the kiss the traditional fly-by of vintage and modern planes from Britain’s Royal Air Force. Later, about two hours later the couple surprised crowds gathered outside the palace by emerging in a blue convertible Aston Martin and driving around for a few minutes. The couple took their vows at about 11:5 a.m. (6:15 a.m. ET) with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, officiating. The prince, 28, was dressed in the resplendent red tunic of the Irish Guards, appeared to initially struggle to get wedding ring onto the elegant dressed Middleton. A very emotional couple said “I will” as they exchanged vows, both seemed to be emotional. The prince reportedly kept on winking at his bride. And by the interpretation of a lip reader, Prince William said jokingly to his father-in-law, “This were supposed to have just a small family affair.” An estimated million well-wishers-as well as some protesters – flooded in the areas surrounding Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and other London landmarks. Some were up at dawn waiving flags for television cameras under gray skies and cool temperatures. About 8,000 reporters and support staff have descended on the capital to capture the occasion in words, images, and while some question a British government estimate of a global audience of two billion, hundreds of millions are certain to tune in. The police reported 18 arrests so far.
Ebenezer Makinde Idaho Statesman Boise State Defensive Back Thompson Drafted by Redskins Boise State defensive back Brandyn Thompson had to wait over six long rounds to be drafted by the Washington Redskin in the final day of the 2011 NFL draft. With the 213th pick, the Redskins decided to take the 5’9’’ 189 pound cornerback out of Elk Grove California, with their last and final pick. Thompson, who was a three year starter for the Broncos from 2007-2010, was named Fiesta Bowl MVP in 2010 and was an All WAC performer during his career on the blue turf. Thompson was at his home in Elk Grove, California for the draft joined by family, friends, and relatives to witness what they hoped would be a celebration rather sooner than later. As rounds passed, Thompson could not handle the uneasiness of the situation and decided to leave the room, finding a spot in a truck bed outside of his home. That bed is where he spent two rounds waiting, until he got the phone call from head coach Mike Shanahan saying that he had been taken by them with the 213th pick. Thompson said he let the emotions out at that time, letting all the stress out as he rejoiced over what has been a fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Thompson also will use this situation as motivation, as scouts say repeatedly that he is too small and too slow. “I use that as fuel,” Thompson said. “… I’m always fighting my size, all the things critics say about me. Now it’s another opportunity to prove them wrong. I’m going to try to take full advantage.”

Schools distort numbers to meet Title IX; Boise State uses 'roster management'

ReplyDelete“New parking proposal moves freshman to Lincoln Garage” by Stephanie Casanova The Arbiter

Teenage girl survives plunge from Golden Gate Bridge
-CNN Staff

On march 1oth a 17-year-old boy jumped off the bridge during a field trip and he said he did it just for fun. The boy broke many bones according to authorities. Since the Gate opened in the 19302 more than 1, 300 people have been killed for numerous incidents and 31 of them have been suicides. This just shows how stupid people really are.

NBA playoffs where, amazing happens.
The NBA playoffs have been so unpredictable thus far. As it stands right now the Boston Celtics are the only team in second round of the playoffs. The Lakers and tied 2-2 in there series and the Spurs and down 3-1. These teams are struggling a bit but no one would have expected them to be where they are right now. The Thunder is up 3-1 and looking to move on to the next round on Thursday. The Mavericks are up 3-2 but find themselves in a tight spot with Portland playing well and may push for a game 7. In the East the Heat are up 3-1 and need to win fast so they can get there series against Boston under way. The Bulls are up 3-1 and play Tuesday to end the series and play either the Magic or Hawks in the next round, that series is 3-1 Hawks. So there is plenty of playoff ball to watch and it was been a very exciting thus far. The better teams are showing their colors and the conference finals shall be great games. The finals will begin June 6th and it is any ones guess who will be playing in it. The one thing that all can look forward to be that it will be one of the best finals in years. The Lakers are playing for their 3rd straight title and 17th overall title. With all the story lines of the Heats big 3 or Boston’s final run a true champion will be crowned.

ReplyDeleteFacebook launches deals program, rivals Groupon
IdahoStatesman.com

News Review – USA Today
"I assumed that once man had gone to the moon that ordinary people like me would have had that opportunity years ago."
When that didn't happen, Branson took matters into his own hands and registered the name Virgin Galactic in 1991 As the shuttle program comes to an end, private companies are looking to fill a new niche.
Police: Citizen tip lead to meth bust at Boise Bench home
ReplyDeleteRegan S

This Article was about a man and woman who got busted for possession of methamphetamines with the intent to deliver.

Zero Hedge is
easily one of the most influential financial blogs. What they have in
common is an adherence to the ideology of anonymity on the internet.
Anonymity frees individuals from the burden of the ego, which is
afraid of judgment, wants recognition, and acts defensively towards
disagreements from others. In a collaborative environment, it blocks
creativity and distorts incentives. When the ego is removed,
unfiltered and raw truth comes out. There are costs to anonymity,
however, because it also removes accountability. In many real life
situations (like commerce), anonymity is a bad idea. Even online, the
rawness of anonymity in places like 4chan offends many people.
However, in the realm of thoughts and information, the truth matters
more than any other considerations. In this regard, anonymity works
beautifully. Anonymity is the main reason the 4chan community
consistently churns out creative, original, and trendsetting
materials. It's also why 4chan has such a loyal following. Indeed,
aside from content creation considerations, anonymity offers other
advantages. Ironically, it gives individuals the feeling of belonging
– even though they don’t develop one-on-one relationships with each
other – because it gets rid of the ego. Once the ego is gone,
anonymous individuals identify with an amorphous entity that
transcends individuality. It’s not that online anonymity leads to
groupthink; it actually encourages creativity and non-conformity.
Instead, anonymity brings individuals closer through cutting the
personal prejudices and allegiances that divide them apart in real
life.

ReplyDelete"Dead Week" buries students alive
Christine Ritchie - The Arbiter

ReplyDeleteNatural Disasters leave Alabama in torment

He will fit into a great system in Detroit along with All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson and soon to be superstar Matthew Stafford at quarterback.
The Detroit Lions have had a great NFL Draft so far as they have gone with defensive tackle Nick Fairley, wide receiver Titus Young, and running back Illinois. So what's next for fellow Boise State players and future Detroit Lions picks?
According to many sources, fellow Boise State players Jeron Johnson, Austin Pettis, and Ryan Winterswyk will not be selected until Saturday, which is rounds 4-7. Pettis is the next highest ranked Boise State player behind Titus Young and should be taken in the 4th round.
This NFL Draft has been a great one so far and let's hope that all the young men from Boise State get drafted and make an immediate impact to their respected NFL team.

Sixers head off into the offseason with high expectations

ReplyDeleteBoise man arrested for fleeing police after driving car through shrubbery Thursday night

A pair of kisses seal marriage of William, Kate
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/42799375/ns/today-
today_people/?GT1=43001
And by the interpretation of a lip reader, Prince William said jokingly to his father-in-law, “This were supposed to have just a small family affair.”
An estimated million well-wishers-as well as some protesters – flooded in the areas surrounding Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and other London landmarks.

Boise State Defensive Back Thompson Drafted by Redskins
Boise State defensive back Brandyn Thompson had to wait over six long rounds to be drafted by the Washington Redskin in the final day of the 2011 NFL draft.
